Voilà un groupe qui ne cesse de changer de styles et de visions musicales et ce même en plein enregistrement. Après le fantastique Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. qui donnait l’impression d’être écrit a mi-chemin entre l’église et le studio où les quatre gars sirotent leurs vies à l’americana chatoyante, exactement le contraire de Sky Blue Sky qui semble être écrit et composé sous la lumière d’un soleil levant sur une plage fugitive, ce qui donne à ce sixième opus plus de profondeur et de poésie Leave Me Like You Found Me, Nous forçant presque à le rapprocher avec Radiohead mais un peu en avance sur ce dernier en matière d’humour noir Impossible Germany dont le songwriter Jeff Tweedy fait preuve sur ce disque universel qu’il ajoute a son autre atout a savoir sa belle voix rauque.

Pop-like orchestral. Un backdrop à l’americana, Impossible Germany est une charmante composition de Jeff Tweedy, une autre façon de dire Welcome à Nels Cline le nouveau guitariste, qui a déjà fait ses preuves sur cette chanson, c’est tellement bon que je ne regrette pas le fait de ne pas sélectionner Leave Me Like You Found Me a sa place.
